JCS Parent Book Club: The Anxious Generation
Jefferson City Schools is excited to invite parents to join our new Parent Book Club this fall! We’ll be reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt — a timely book about the challenges youth face today with mental health, smartphones, social media, and big tech.
About the Book Club
This book club, led by Licensed Professional Counselor Abbie Vipperman, is designed to provide parents with practical ideas, support, and opportunities to connect with other families in our community.
You’re welcome to join whether you read the book fully, partially, or just want to listen and learn during our sessions.
Meeting Dates and Locations
We’ll meet in person and online at several times to make it easy for you to participate.
Parts 1 & 2: August 21
- 9:00 a.m. — Cream & Shuga (in person)
- 12:00 p.m. — Online

Book Summary Presentation: September 25

(This session is for parents who prefer a summary instead of reading the whole book.)
How to Participate
- Get a copy of The Anxious Generation, available online, in bookstores or your local library.
- Choose the session time and location that works best for you.
- Final details and links for online sessions will be sent via email before each meeting.
