Jefferson High School would like to announce that Head Football Coach Gene Cathcart has accepted the position of Head Football Coach at Batesburg-Leesville High School in South Carolina. Coach Cathcart has served as the head coach for the Jefferson Dragons football team for the last five years. Under his leadership, the team had an overall record of 52-11, winning back-to-back region championships, and finished as the State AAAA Runner-Up in 2020.

Among Coach Cathcart’s many accolades, he also led the football team to a top 100 ranking in the United States and holds the longest winning streak and longest regular-season winning streak in school history. Coach Cathcart will be missed by both his students and his players, but we wish him the best of luck on his next journey in South Carolina. Bill Navas, JCS Athletic Director says, “I want to thank Coach Cathcart for his service to our football program.  He is an outstanding coach and an even better human being.  I sincerely wish that the river is good to him in the crossing.”

The search for the next head football coach at Jefferson City Schools will begin immediately.
