Welcome to Jefferson Academy!

My name is Christopher Whitworth and I want to welcome you and your family to JA and the 2023-2024 school year!  I am both honored and privileged to serve as your child's proud Principal!  I aim to create an environment at our school where students, parents, teachers, community members, and visitors experience the warmth, support, and dedication in all we do on a daily basis.  We are also proud of our partnerships that support the enhancement of our students' educational journeys and know that it "takes a village" to set a vision so that all of our students reach their highest potential and have a great experience in school.
We will build upon our students' many assets and continue to support rigorous instruction to meet all of our students' individual needs.  I envision a place where teachers collaborate and partner with parents to create and foster the ideal learning environment for students, students thrive and grow emotionally, socially, and academically, and a teacher’s enthusiasm for their craft is evident in their students’ love of learning.  We are a team every step of the way!  I also encourage you to make it a practice and priority to maintain communication with your child's teacher.  It is critical for your child to see the time you invest in their education.
I believe it is extremely important for your child to know his or her school administrators, and I will work hard to make sure that happens; I hold myself accountable for being visible throughout the building.  My hope is that you and your child find me both approachable and easy to speak to and you won't hesitate to contact me if you ever have questions, concerns, or just want to share good news about your child or our school.  I want you to feel welcome to stop by school, whether it's to volunteer or to simply say hello.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at JA!
