Health Services

The Jefferson City Schools Health Services Department focuses on the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. Our school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

Jeri Jones

My name is Jeri Jones, and I am a nurse for the Jefferson City School System. I am originally from a small farming community near Montgomery, Alabama. I completed my bachelor's in education in 1981 and my bachelor's in nursing in 1983 from Auburn University. In 1986, I completed the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence program at Emory University and a master's in education in 2007.

I have worked in hospitals (Ortho, MICU, PACU, and Patient Education), Wound Care Clinics, a Urologist's office, and I have worked 20 plus years in school systems. I retired from Gwinnett County Public Schools as one of their County School Nurses, and my husband and I moved to Jefferson last summer to be near our son and daughter-in-law and their new baby.

I am working part-time with JCS and will mainly be working with SPED and medically fragile students providing health plans for the school in conjunction with parents and medical care providers, training staff, and supporting each school clinic with various screenings and other duties. JCS is an impressive community of staff and students, and I am proud and honored to be a small part of this great organization.
