Beverly and Jack Keen Math Scholarship

Coach Jack Keen left behind a legacy that will remain with us forever!  His accomplishments in the athletic arena are well recognized.  During his tenure as a Coach, he won 14 state championships in boy's track and field and wrestling.  His achievements as a math teacher over 50 years, were equally impressive.  He was selected as the Star Teacher 27 times. His wife Beverly was the CEO of their household. To recognize his success in the classroom and the essential role that Beverly played, former students, friends, and their families have established the Beverly and Jack Keen Math Scholarship. 

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Graduating senior planning to pursue a career in mathematics or a related field. 
  • Overall grade pt. avg. of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an accredited college/university or trade school.
  • Student must have demonstrated outstanding dependability, integrity, and a willingness to work in his home, school & community.
  • Financial need should not be the deciding factor but it should be taken into consideration.

Dwight & Peggy Porter Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Recipient must have at least a 2.5 GPA
  • Be involved in extracurricular and community activities.
  • Graduating Senior
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school.
  • Financial need will be taken into consideration

Hope Meredith Memorial Scholarship

Hope Meredith taught science at Jefferson High School for 12 years.  She was an excellent teacher who had high expectations of all of her students.  Hope’s dedication to her school and her students was unparalleled, and she was loved by our faculty and students.  After her passing, her family set up a memorial scholarship in her name to be presented to a Jefferson High School graduate with plans of pursuing a career in education or science.
 
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Graduating Senior.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Financial needs will be taken into consideration.
  • Intends to go into education or science field.

Kim Rainey Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria:

• Must be a JHS Senior
• Meet graduation requirements
• Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude
• Financial need will be considered but will not be the sole determining factor
• Must be accepted and enrolled in a technical school or college.

#2 Elijah Dewitt Memorial Scholarship

In recognition of the life of Elijah DeWitt.

  • Must be a senior in good standing at Jefferson High School
  • Will be selected based on displaying Resilience.  Resilience is generally defined as the ability of an   individual to bend but not break, to bounce back:
  • He or she must present a determination to succeed while always being willing to give a helping hand to his/her peers to help them succeed as well.
  • He/she must demonstrate their ability to rise above obstacles faced as a high school student.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
