PRIDE – Promoting Responsibility In Dragon Excellence
The PRIDE Character Word for the month of February is “tolerance” - to show kindness and acceptance to all - not just to those you are comfortable with. Please help us encourage our students to be tolerant both in and out of school! Our next PRIDE session will be Wednesday, February 8.

Social Studies: New Deal Programs Project
Groups: You may choose to work alone or in groups of two (2) or three (3). Not more than three people may work together.
Assigned Program: New Deal Programs will be drawn randomly from a hat. You may not trade with any other group. You must research the program you draw.
Research: You will need to gather the following information about your New Deal Program to share with the class: when established and when ended; purpose; achievements, outcome and effectiveness; personal story.
Presentation: You must present the above information to the class. You may use any form of presentation you feel comfortable with (PowerPoint; Prezi; display board; video; etc.).
Due Date: Presentations will begin on Monday, February 13. Groups will be randomly drawn to determine order of presentation, so everyone MUST be ready on February 13.

Infinite Campus - The Good & The Opportunity
An impressive 82% of our parents have an active Infinite Campus account!! Awesome!! This being said, nearly two dozen have not logged in this semester, and ten have not logged in since the last school year. Parents, please remember that you have access to your child’s grades 24 hours each day, seven day a week. IC is a fantastic tool to help you regularly monitor your child’s progress. Late assignments and zeroes can be quickly identified, too. Special reminder: Late work will NOT be accepted this semester in Language Arts.

Attention Parents:
JMS is in need of proctors for our CRCT test which will be given April 23rd through April 27th. Please contact Ms. Lisa Bray Ramers at 706-367-2882 or email
lbramers@jeffcityschools.org if you would be willing to help.

Progress Reports
Progress Reports will hopefully be sent home with students today, Friday, February 3. If not, reports will be sent home on Monday, February 6. Parents, please sign this report and remind your child to return it to his/her homeroom teacher on the next school day.

JMS Annual Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair will be held weekdays Thursday, February 9 through Wednesday, February 15 from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Parents and students may enjoy special extended hours on Monday, February 13 (open to 5:00 PM). READING IS POWER!! See you there!!

Thanks to all our parents for your support and encouragement!!

JMS Team 8 Red

Hello and welcome to the 8th grade. We are all so excited about this school year and look forward to a fantastic year of learning and fun. We believe that all students have a right to learn and are capable of learning. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students for the rigor of high school. To do so, we strive to maintain an environment that places the student in charge of his or her own learning. We strongly believe that students should be responsible for their own learning.

Communication is key to a successful learning environment. If you ever need to discuss any situation with us, please feel free to call at 367-2882. We want to make this experience the best it can be in preparation for a new transition in life.
