Jefferson Students Attend 72nd Georgia Youth Assembly

Congratulations to the members of the Jefferson High School Youth Assembly Delegation! 19 of your classmates attended the three day 72nd Youth Assembly Conference in Atlanta. They took part in the largest state government simulation in Georgia, participating in mock congressional sessions, moot court and media programs. Over the weekend Tan Tonge, Luke Bell and Douglas Holloway successfully moved their bill proposals through both houses of the legislature; Tan Tonge also had his own proposal for tax credits for small businesses signed by the Youth Governor. During the conference sophomores Samantha Ayoub and Michal Moore served as Legislative Committee Chairmen. A special congratulations to Jaime Romano and Liz Quilliams. Jamie was appointed as Youth House Floor Leader for next year’s 73rd Youth Assembly, and Liz was elected the Youth Lt. Governor for the 73rd Youth Assembly. This is one of the three highest leadership positions you can achieve at the Youth Assembly. Liz will preside over the Youth Senate at the GA. State Capitol next year.
