Dragons Wrestling Wins 16th Consecutive Duals State Title

Jefferson Does It Again

On January 14th, the Jefferson Dragon wrestling team won the state duals for the 16th consecutive time. This broke the Gilmer Bobcats 31-match winning streak and 7 straight dual titles. Go Dragons!

After fifteen consecutive wins at the GHSA state-duals, Jefferson was able to get it done again and win their sixteenth title in a row. The Dragons have now won state titles in four classifications (A-AAAA).

The Dragons started their weekend with a solid victory on Thursday over Northside Columbus (79-0). On Friday, they claimed two more victories through the second and third round of the brackets over Marist (57-18) and Woodward Academy (50-16). This brought the Dragons into a highly anticipated clash with Gilmer County on Saturday. Although Gilmer County was the defending AAAA state champions, Jefferson beat them with a final score of 35-28 on Saturday.
