After winning an important game Tuesday against Stephens County, the Dragons improved their chances to take the top spot in region. The top 4 teams in each region are granted spots in the playoffs, and the Dragons are already guaranteed a spot due to their current record. The Dragons are currently 7-2 and are tied with Madison County and Stephens County for the number 1 spot. Jefferson plays St. Pius (0-9 region record) on Thursday to complete their region schedule. Stephens County plays North Oconee (2-7 region record) and Madison County, who won their game against North Oconee on Tuesday, will play Oconee County (4-5 region record).
With the win Tuesday, Jefferson controls their own destiny. If Jefferson, Madison and Stephens win out, Jefferson leads on the applicable tie-breaker.
The first tiebreaker is head-to-head matchups. All teams will have split their matchups with each other, so they will be at a draw again. The next tiebreaker is winning percentage. Since all win percentages will be the same, the seeding will come down to runs allowed amongst each other. Stephens County has allowed 7 runs against Madison and Jefferson. Jefferson has allowed 3 runs against Madison and Stephen. Madison County has allowed 16 runs against Jefferson and Stephens. Jefferson will win this tie-breaker and be in the top spot.
If Jefferson loses against St. Pius, They could finish as low as third place in the region depending on the outcomes of Madison and Stephens Countys final games.
