Jefferson Sports Recap (Week of 9/12)

Volleyball

The Volleyball team played very well this week considering all the tough competition they had to play against. They played a total of six games. Their first game was against Eagle's Landing Christian Academy with Jefferson winning a set and ELCA winning two, next is Harrison which the Ladies were defeated in both sets, but near the end was a close finish. Jefferson then played Gordon Lee which was won 2-1. Central was beat 2-0 as well as Hillgrove. The Ladies ended their tournament against Kennesaw Mountain High School in a 0-2 loss. The Dragons played hard and were very competitive in a difficult field.

Softball

The JHS Varsity Softball team played four games last week. Tuesday, they played Oconee and beat them 9-0. Their next game was against Madison County and they lost a hard fought game 2-1. Over the weekend, the Softball Dragons took on Archer and Harlem. The Dragons beat Harlem 8-1 and Archer 4-1.

Cheerleading

The JHS Varsity Cheerleaders competed in a 4-A division at North Gwinnett High School and did not place in the competition. The JMS Cheerleaders competed in the same tournament and took second place.

Football

On Friday, September 16, the JHS Varsity Football team played against the Flowery Branch Falcons in a regular season game and beat them with a score of 33 to 0.

Cross Country

During the last meet, JHS Cross Country had overall good placement. The Boys Varsity Cross Country team got second place in the West Hall Invitational meet with 78 points and an average time of 17:29, and the Girls Varsity team got 6th place in the meet with 183 points and a average time of 23:49. Max Higgins got the best time for Varsity Boys with 17:02, and Maggie Dyer got the best for Varsity Girls with 20:21.
