Robotics at Jefferson Academy

Jefferson Academy FIRST LEGO League robotics team (FLL) recently participated in a regional competition at Athens Academy. FLL is an international STEAM competition for students in 4th - 8th grades. Georgia Tech manages all teams in the Georgia Chapter. This year's theme, Hydro Dynamics, challenges students to research a real-world problem in the Human Water Cycle (finding, transporting, use and/or disposal of water) and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, and program a robot to operate autonomously using LEGO MINDSTORMS, then compete on a table-top playing field. JA FLL robotics team of 4th an 5th grade students won 1st place in their robot score at Region, so they advance to Super-Regionals January 13th. Team members: Ruby Anderson, Cap Benson, Aubrielle Caldwell, Mackenzie Carr, Tyler Frazier, Jolie Guenther, Dhruv Patel, Coleman Rudisill, Noah Smith (not pictured), and Andrew Sorah. Coaches: Donna Whitfield, Carver Anderson, Kenny Caldwell (not pictured), and Stacey Sanchez.
