As summer officially begins, we recognize there may be anxiety among parents, staff, and community members regarding what the 2020-2021 school year will entail. We are in the process of compiling information from various sources and consulting with local and state healthcare providers, educational leaders, and other local and state officials in order to make informed decisions regarding the upcoming school year. The health and well-being of our students, families, and staff are top priority and will be the basis of all decisions.
Over the next few weeks, we expect to receive additional considerations, recommendations, and best practices from several state-level groups, including the Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These groups will provide essential guidance as we prepare our plans and strategies for safely reopening our schools. All new information will be posted on the system’s website and accessible via the COVID-19 Resource link.
Please understand that final decisions will be based on the most updated guidance from local and state agencies. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncharted waters. We will be communicating regularly with our families and staff members over the next few weeks as we revise and refine our plans. Safety is and will continue to be our top priority.
