Wrestling

Wrestlers take 8th straight state title, 12th overall!

The JHS wrestlers did it again, leaving the Gwinnett Arena with their eighth straight, and twelfth overall, state traditional championship. No Georgia team in any sport has won eight straight titles and no wrestling team has won twelve overall championships. And if that weren't enough, they did it in style, placing eleven wrestlers in the finals, and emerging with six individual champions, five second places, and two thirds. All this on top of an unbeaten regular season (a school first) and their seventh state dual championship made for a pretty special year.

Congratulations to Cason Thurmond, Cam Thurmond, Jed Gurley, Jay Fowler, Zac Crosby and Lucas Redd for winning individual championships. State runner-ups are Daniel Barber, Cutler Finch, Wayne Elliot, Patrick Allen, and Cole High tower. Third place honors went to Kevin Anderson and Zach Allen.

Congratulations to the team, Coach Thurmond and Coach Gurley!

Softball

Softball Team Third in State!
Congratulations to Coaches Puckett, Davidson, and players on 3rd straight region championship and 3rd straight elite eight appearance.

The Lady Dragons made a great run, going 3-2 on the tourney, losing only to finalists Gordon Lee and Eagles Landing. The Dragons split on Thursday (11-1 vs. Savannah Day, 1-2 vs. Gordon Lee) then pulled out two heart stoppers on Friday, winning in the bottom of the 7th against Taylor County, and in extra innings against Savannah Day. The train came to a halt on Saturday against eventual champ, Eagles Landing. Great season ladies! You made us proud!
