REASON(S)

TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS

Code Green

  • Return to normal operations
  • Students remain inside the classroom and regular classroom procedures are followed.

Code Grey

  • Impending Severe Weather
  • Thunderstorm Watch
  • Tornado Watch
  • High Winds
  • Hail Storms
  • Winter Weather Alert
  • Be prepared to move into hallways for “duck and cover”.
  • Continue regular classroom duties until orders are given over intercom.
  • During a winter weather alert, be prepared to move the students to buses.

Code Blue

  • Heightened State of Security
  • PREVENTATIVE LOCKDOWN
  • Turn off all cell phones until clearance is given.
  • Keep students in classroom and lock all doors.
  • Continue regular classroom duties until orders are given over the intercom.
  • Students must be removed from hallways and kept in the classroom.
  • Report to the office by intercom any unusual activity you witness.
  • Only open doors for staff members.

Code Orange

  • Bomb Threat
  • Fire
  • Release of chemicals
  • EVACUATE THE BUILDING using evacuation routes. Take red safety bag.
  • Utilize card system for area communication (green – all clear; red- medical assistance; no card –immediate emergency)
  • In bomb threat situations, turn off all cell phones and radios until clearance is given.
  • Take attendance after you have assembled students in your assigned area. Wait for directive.
  • Keep students in assembled area and be prepared to transport students.

Code Red

  • CRISIS RESPONSE
  • Shots fired
  • Weapon Situation/Hostage Situation
  • Immediately lock and secure the classroom.
  • Advise students to move away from the doors and windows. Keep students quiet. Cell phones off.
  • Get down on the floor if necessary.
  • Utilize card system for classroom / area communication (green-all clear; red – medicalassistance ; no card – immediate emergency)
  • Notify the office if you witness hostile activity.
  • Listen for further information or instructions.
