JES Counselor’s Corner
September 2007 Classroom Guidance

This month's character education word is initiative - seeing what needs to be done and doing it.

  • In first and second grades, Ms. Kenney read the book Never Finished, Never Done! By Regina Brooks.

  • Students discussed how the character Shayla learned to show initiative by helping her mom complete chores on Saturday mornings.

  • Students drew pictures and wrote sentences about how they show initiative at school and at home.
