Policies and Procedures

Circulation

Books are circulated for a two week period with up to two renewals. Students in PreK through second grade may check out one book.  Although no fines are charged for overdue books, students are encouraged to return books in a timely fashion. A second book may not be checked out until the first is turned in or a lost book payment is made.

Lost or Damaged Books

If a book is damaged students are encouraged to be honest and let Mrs. Porter or Mrs. Dorsey know about the damage. Please DO NOT try to repair the damage at home. The library has special supplies made specifically to repair damaged books. If the book is damaged beyond repair the student will be expected to pay for the replacement of the book.

If a student loses a book, they will be expected to pay for the cost of the book, which is the current cost to replace the book.

Schedule

Students in Pre-K through Second Grade will be scheduled to visit the library once a week with their class.  Students who miss the opportunity to check out a book on the day their class comes may visit the library individually (with permission from the teacher) to renew, return, or checkout a book.

Teachers

Teachers may checkout unlimited (within reason) books, books on tape, video tapes, DVDs, guided reading, novel dishes, and browsing tubs.  Reference books (including encyclopedia sets) are for use in the library only. It is the teacher's responsibility to keep up with book sets such as guided reading, novel dishes, and browsing tubs.  Sets should not be broken up.
