Flat Stanley visits the World

In the book, Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, a bulletin board flattens the character Stanley at home.  Stanley embarks on many adventures throughout the book.  In one adventure Stanley visits a friend in California by being mailed through the US Postal Service.  First Grade students have made their our own “Flat Stanley” to send to someone through the mail.  The students learned about how to write a friendly letter, how to address an envelope, how the United States Post Office works, and about many different geographic locations around the world.  We have included a few pictures of Flat Stanley's travels.

This is a photo of Flat Stanley on the White House lawn posing with President Bush's two dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley.  Ms. Holman's class got this back from President and Laura Bush after writing friendly letters to them.

This must be the President's own version of Flat Stanley.  Ms. Holman's class found this in the package sent back from the White House.

Ms. Holman's class shows off some of the things they got from the White House after writing their friendly letters.
